Founded in 1873, Vanderbilt is a private, mid-sized, comprehensive research university. Undergraduate programs are offered through the Blair School of Music, the College of Arts and Science, the Peabody College of Education and Human Development, and the School of Engineering. Situated on a beautiful, park-like 330-acre campus, Vanderbilt is located in an urban center in mid-town Nashville, TN, just 1.5 miles from downtown. Students from all 50 states and 40 countries bring a wide array of backgrounds and interests to campus, and are actively engaged in over 430 student organizations. Easy access to faculty is one of the hallmarks of a Vanderbilt education, and over 50% of students are involved in research spanning many fields of study. Vanderbilt is residential and students are required to live on campus for four years.
