Career Discovery and Exploration

The National Career Planning Initiative from is a free, easy to administer program that captures the interests, abilities and current plans of high school students to provide guidance as they explore and discover their “best fit” careers.

The National Career Planning Initiative will help you and your parents through this critical decision-making process. Developed specifically for 8th-10th grade students as you formulate your high school course plans and work toward a path to your post-secondary education and career preparation, the program provides a personalized report outlining directional guidance. This report will help you focus your career and education exploration and enable you to make informed short term decisions like the best plan for your course enrollments.

This program is only available through your high school; contact your guidance counselor if you are interested in participating. A National Career Planning Initiative packet can be requested on your behalf by contacting Peggy Jansen, My College Options Liaison at or call 877-409-6366.

About the National Career Planning Initiative
