College Resources

We recently asked high school students who or what encouraged their interest in science, technology, engineering or math. Here is what they said!

Why STEM education is important to you and your career

According to the US Department of Commerce’s Economics and Statistics Administration, during the past decade, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) jobs grew three times more than non-STEM jobs and STEM workers, on average, earn 26 percent higher wages than their non-STEM counterparts. In addition to preparing young people for the job opportunities of tomorrow, a STEM education fosters a natural curiosity about the world while developing creative and analytical thinking skills. It places students on the cutting edge of the work that is being done every day to unravel the mysteries of our planet, improve healthcare and make the world a better place to live.
