What is My College Options?

My College Options is a nationwide service created for high school students and their parents, school counselors, and teachers to explore the full range of opportunities after high school, with special emphasis on the college search process.

What services does My College Options provide to students?

My College Options provides the college-bound student with the ability to match his or her personal goals and interests (including academics, co-curricular activities, location preferences, and attitudes) with the offerings of 3,500 accredited post-secondary institutions in the United States.

In addition to hearing directly from colleges and universities, your students may also hear from educational and career service providers offering products and services such as college admissions services, financial aid, career information, extracurricular enrichment and recognition programs.

How is My College Options different from other similar services?

There are several key differences to My College Options:

• My College Options provides this service at no cost to the participating school, school district, student or parents and guardians. All students complete the initial questionnaire in class. All students who fill out the questionnaire at each school will receive a list of their matched choices.
• Students are matched with more then 3,500 accredited post-secondary institutions, 2-year and 4-year, public and private. The matches are listed in order of compatibility. Initially, the results are distributed through the high school. Afterwards, the students may go to the My College Options website, http://MyCollegeOptions.org, to modify their search or explore new directions.

Who created My College Options?

My College Options is a service provided by the National Research Center for College & University Admissions. Established in 1972, NRCCUA is a non-profit educational research organization with more than 1400 college and university members.
